Nick has just bought a 64 year old Lister 5/1 which he intends to restore to full working order although it runs pretty well anyway. After removing the cylinder head he found very little carbon and a very good cylinder bore with no scoring. The only carbon was around the exhaust valve which will need a regrind. He is going to connect a 5Kw ST to it to initially power the garage. The power generated should run his biodiesel making plant and the lighting utilising the rest later as a back up to the house. Future connections may be possible to the central heating system making it a CHP unit.
