I moved and installed heavy machinery for 10 years so I’m well aware that the Lister is a dangerous open flywheel engine so must be treated with respect as rotating machinery is unforgiving. Please bear this in mind if you want install and operate one. Therefore safety is paramount when working on or near them when they are alive and moving.
Moving on to a little history. Introduced in 1930, they continued in production by Lister until 1987 now continuing to be built in India by many companies. More detail to be found Here
There are quite a few available types of the CS ranging from single cylinder to double cylinder models. As you are probably by now aware these engine can run on a variety of fuels ranging from diesel, biodiesel, vegetable oil (waste or new) and even waste engine oil. Of course all waste fuels must be filtered and dewatered to at least 10 micron otherwise damage to the injection pump is inevitable. The single cylinder model types are 6/1 , 8/1 , 10/1 and 12/1 ,weighing 310 , 320 , 325 and 335 Kgs respectively
The double cylinder model types are 12/2 , 16/2 , 20/2 and 24/2 , weighing 470 , 496 , 490 and 524 Kgs respectively
